Pre-thanksgiving family outing

Had a great time @ Caltech

We enjoyed a late sleep in and started the day with brunch at Denny’s. We headed to Caltech for a long overdue visit. We all got some Caltech swag. The Caltech bookstore attendant recognized Atom and Marie and commented how much they’ve grown. We took in a nice stroll through the campus and a game of frisbee. Our frisbee game was temporarily postponed due to Jackie’s bad throw into Millikan pond. After a few hand made splashes by Marie to make water currents to push the frisbee near the edge, Atom managed to pull in the frisbee with a twig he found nearby. After a fun time at Caltech and our usual photo spot we headed to Barnes and Nobles in Burbank which we decided on the spot. After a relaxing time of book browsing at Barnes we had dinner at a nearby Chevys. The food was meh. As we headed home we stopped by Home Depot and Target. It was a long and fun day, we were all glad to be home.

The Theory of Everything at Pasadena

The Theory of Everything at Pasadena

We spent Friday evening in Pasadena to see the “The Theory of Everything” movie, the story of Stephen Hawking. We started the evening with dinner at CPK and a brief stroll around Pasadena city hall area. We then spent some time at Vroman’s bookstore, book shopping, where Marie and Atom took in a game of checkers. The kids bought the card game Spot It which we played at Vroman’s cafe, while Jackie and I enjoyed a tasty cup of coffee. We ended the night at the Archlight theatre to watch the movie. The theatre had a assigned seating so we managed to get decent seating. The kids enjoyed the movie and more importantly now have a better understanding of the life of a great and still living physicist. In summary, a great and awesome family outing. Btw Go Physics!
